William Saliba has only played just over one season of Premier League football and he spent a number of months out with an injury in 2022/23.
However, it is already becoming clear that if the Frenchman keeps up his current level and continues to develop he can easily go down as one of the all-time greats when it comes to PL defenders.
Virgil van Dijk was previously in that conversation but his claim has faded over the last two seasons or so.
Looking back, the three main players many people point to when discussing the best Premier League centre-backs are Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Vincent Kompany.
And now, Saliba has ranked the trio. Speaking about the best three defenders in the history of the Premier League, he tells Sky Sports, as quoted by Sport Bible: “I watch clips of all three on YouTube, sometimes to learn.
“They are all good and it was hard to make a choice but I will probably start with Kompany, then Ferdinand and Terry third.”
