Why Romelu Lukaku got angry with Christian Pulisic during Chelsea’s win over Crystal Palace

Romelu Lukaku would get angry with Chelsea teammate Christian Pulisic during their clash with Crystal Palace.

The Blues would face off with Patrick Vieira’s Palace on Saturday in a 3 pm tie.

Chelsea needed a win to ensure they did not fall into the battle for 4th place whilst also keeping some sort of pressure on the two teams above them.

Chelsea, barring their Club World Cup win, headed into the game in fairly patch form which had seen them draw two and lose one of their previous four league matches.

And Saturday was not much better from the west Londoners, who narrowly edged out a win thanks to an 89th-minute strike from Hakim Ziyech:

Following the game, football.london have revealed why Lukaku got angry with Pulisic during the match, explaining that early in the second half, rather than take the option to play Lukaku through the inside, Pulisic opted to slow the play and head around the outside and as the play broke down for the Blues.

They add that Lukaku was quick to show how unhappy he was, which is not surprising given how little the Belgian touched the ball vs Palace.

Chelsea vs Lille

Chelsea are now set to turn their attentions towards the Champions League.

The Blues will face off with Lille in the first of two Round of 16 ties on Tuesday the 22nd of February.

The first leg is at Stamford Bridge, with the return outing taking place in France on the 16th of March.

Chelsea may not be heading into the game in the best of form. But, Lille have dipped off massively this term after beating PSG to the Ligue 1 crown in 2020/21.

The French outfit are currently 10th in Ligue 1 and have been struggling to keep clean sheets this term.
