Why Rob Holding was furious with Nuno Tavares during Arsenal’s win over West Ham

Why Rob Holding was furious with Nuno Tavares during Arsenal’s clash with West Ham on Sunday has been revealed.

Arsenal faced off with the Hammers in east London, looking to once again knock Tottenham out of the top-four.

And, when all was said and done in the London Stadium, Arsenal did exactly that. The game was by no means a classic, with neither side anywhere close to their best for large stretches.

However, some brilliance on the part of Gabriel and Rob Holding ensured Arsenal came away with a 2-1 win on the day.

Why Holding was angry with Tavares

West Ham’s only goal came just minutes after Rob Holding had given Arsenal the lead.

Vladimir Coufal set up Jarrod Bowen thanks to some lacklustre defending from Arsenal:

Now, after the game, it has been revealed that Rob Holding was furious with Nuno Tavares for his actions leading up to the goal.

As football.london report: “As Declan Rice 's switch dropped to Vladimir Coufal, Tavares ambled over seemingly in slow motion to allow the Czech full back to put in the cross that Jarrod Bowen eventually turned home. This prompted a furious reaction from Rob Holding who instantly yelled ‘Nuno’ before thrusting his hands together to indicate that the left-back should have been over to press Coufal far more intensely.”

This was not the only mistake Tavares made during the match, with the Portuguese’s lack of defensive awareness sure to cost the Gunners at least a few more times this term.
