Why Oleksandr Zinchenko burst into tears on Arsenal bench during Liverpool clash

Liverpool and Arsenal clashed at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool and Arsenal played out an enthralling match across 90 minutes on Merseyside.

The Gunners started out in complete control and found themselves 1-0 up after just eight minutes when Virgil van Dijk deflected a pass meant for Bukayo Saka straight at Gabriel Martinelli, who ran in on goal and poked an effort past Alisson.

Arsenal’s barrage continued and they added a second goal after 28 minutes with Martinelli’s whipped cross headed in by an unmarked Gabriel Jesus.

But just when it looked like Arsenal would run away with the game, a loose ball fell to Mohamed Salah who stabbed in a goal shortly before the break.

The second half belonged to Liverpool and they eventually got an equaliser 87 minutes in via substitute, Roberto Firmino.

Now, following the game, images of Zinchenko looking distraught on the Arsenal bench have emerged.

The former City man came in for some serious criticism after the final whistle, as Jamie Carragher laid into Zinchenko for the way he failed to deal with Trent Alexander-Arnold in the build-up to Firmino’s goal.
