Why Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is refusing to speak to other clubs ahead of free agent exit

The agent of Liverpool star Roberto Firmino has, on Saturday, provided a fresh insight into his client’s future.

The name of frontman Firmino, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of Merseyside across the last 24 hours.

This comes after confirmation was forthcoming that the Brazilian – a beloved figure across the Liverpool fanbase – has come to the decision to bring the Anfield chapter of his career to a definitive close.

Firmino’s current terms with Jurgen Klopp’s troops are due to come to an end in the summer.

And, amid fresh competition for game-time from the likes of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, the former Hoffenheim standout has made the call to seek out pastures new.

Where, though, could Firmino land next?

The 31-year-old’s decision regarding his plans beyond the summer, however, will in fact not be forthcoming any time soon.

This comes with Firmino, for the time being, refusing to open discussions with any and all clubs keen on his services.

Speaking to Liverpool reporter David Lynch on Saturday, Roger Wittmann, the striker’s agent, confirmed that:

“He told us: I don’t want to talk to any other club, he wants to give his best for Liverpool until the end. This was the first time in my life he’s a free agent player and he said there was no need to talk to others!”
