Why Liverpool should be competing for Premier League next season

Liverpool are expected to challenge for the Premier League in 2023/24.

Liverpool had a dismal season last time out, which saw them finish 5th.

The Reds’ form did improve at the back end of the campaign, but only enough to secure a Europa League place.

This is a major drop off from previous campaigns when Liverpool have largely been the only side pushing Manchester City in the title race.

Now, however, Liverpool have seen a lot of fringe stars leave and signed two quality midfielders.

They are also expected to add a third defensive mid before the window closes, which is – in the opinion of one ex-Liverpool man – enough to get them back near the top of the division.

When questioned about Liverpool’s realistic expectations for the upcoming season, considering the potential departures of Fabinho and Henderson, Steve Nicol stated that the club should be aiming to compete for the title: “Competing for the title. Simple and straightforward.
