Why Bryan Gil is absent from Tottenham’s squad to face Man City

An explanation for the absence of Bryan Gil from Tottenham Hotspur’s matchday squad to face Manchester City has been provided late on Thursday.

Spurs, of course, are currently putting the final touches on preparations for a highly-anticipated Premier League outing.

After slipping to an altogether deserved defeat in the latest edition of the North London Derby last weekend, Antonio Conte’s troops have turned their attentions towards yet another crunch fixture, on this occasion against Pep Guardiola’s aforementioned Man City.

As is customary, the Lilywhites’ latest squad, in turn, was unveiled a short time ago.

As alluded to above, though, one surprise omission from not only the club’s bench, but matchday setup altogether, comes in the form of Bryan Gil.

Youngster Gil, of course, had finally begun to piece together a stretch of regular appearances of late, featuring in some capacity in each of Spurs’ last four fixtures across all competitions.

An explanation for as much, though, has since been provided ahead of Thursday night’s action getting underway.

As per a report from the reliable Alasdair Gold, Gil ‘misses out after picking up a knock in training’.

It is currently unclear whether the Spaniard faces any sort of prolonged spell on the sidelines.
