Supporters of Premier League giants Chelsea have taken to social media in their droves on Tuesday, to express fresh concern over a key member of the club’s first-team setup.
Thomas Tuchel’s men, of course, are currently locked in action.
On the back of an altogether hit-and-miss opening to the new campaign, the Blues have made the trip to England’s south coast, eyeing a 2nd win on the bounce in a meeting with Southampton.
In turn, when a concerted spell of pressure ultimately culminated in Chelsea opening the evening’s scoring through Raheem Sterling midway through the first-half, the visitors looked on their way to precisely that.
It didn’t take at all long, however, for the capital club’s three-point hopes to be dented.
This came as youngster Romeo Lavia bent a fine effort home from just outside the area, to pull Southampton level with his first senior goal with 28 minutes on the clock.
That’s some way to open your account for a new team! 💥

One man in particular, in the form of Edouard Mendy, was singled out for widespread criticism, amid suggestions that the shot-stopper should have done better in attempting to keep Lavia’s effort out.
Amid what has proven a difficult start to the campaign for the Senegalese, Blues fans have therefore not been at all shy in flocking to Twitter, to take aim at their side’s no.1:
An investigation needs to be made into what exactly happened to Edouard Mendy after AFCON, he’s not been the same since.

I’d be fine with benching Mendy for Kepa and trying it out for a few games ngl, Mendy hasn’t had a good run of games in around 9 months 😩 pic.twitter.com/N6uUU7rjow

Two Azpi mistakes but Mendy again wtf is that 🧐

Kepa needs to start against West Ham.
I don’t know what’s going on with Mendy at the moment but ever since West Ham away last year, he’s just not been good enough.
