Watch: Lionel Messi reaches another career milestone to tee up last-minute Mbappe winner

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi has, late on Saturday, etched his name ever further into the history books of world football.

For those not aware, Messi, and PSG, were back in action a short time ago.

After being sent packing from the Champions League with something of a whimper in midweek, Christophe Galtier’s troops turned their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front, in a Ligue 1 meeting with Stade Brestois.

With a full 90 minutes on the clock, however, the capital giants looked primed for a 2nd disappointing result on the bounce.

This came after Carlos Soler’s opener was cancelled out by Franck Honorat late in the first-half.

With the pairing of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe on the pitch, however, opposing defences can never quite let their guard down.

After being picked out inside his own half, Messi directed a sumptuous defence-splitting pass through the lines, sending partner in crime Mbappe clear on goal.

And the Frenchman made no mistake with his ensuing finish, rounding Brest no. 1 Marco Bizot before slotting calmly into the hosts’ empty net:

As alluded to above, though, Messi’s latest moment of magic in laying on Mbappe did not only prove significant in turning a solitary PSG point into three.

In addition, it saw the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner reach another staggering career milestone, as the first player to ever rack up 300 assists at club level:
