Watch: Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic nets hat-trick for USMNT

The USA men’s national team took one step closer to securing their spot in Qatar on Sunday evening.

The USA would take on Panama in their penultimate World Cup qualifying clash.

They would head into the game at the Exploria Stadium sat second in their qualifying group, but well aware that Mexico and Costa Rica are hot on their heels.

As a result, the USA really needed a win ahead of what is set to be a huge final game.

This is exactly what they go in no small part due to a starring display from Christian Pulisic.

The USA won 5-1 on the day and Chelsea’s Pulisic netted three of the goals, with his third of the day a superb effort.

Costa Rica vs USA

After picking up a win vs Panama, the USA remain 2^nd in their group, three points behind Canada, level on points with Mexico and just three points behind Costa Rica who are in 4^th.

As it is only the top-three teams who get an automatic spot in Qatar, the USA need to ensure they pick up at least a point in their next outing vs Costa Rica in order to remain in the top-three.

However, they would also no doubt love to pick up a win and knock Canada off top spot as well.

The USA’s final World Cup qualifying match comes on the 31^st of March at 2:05 am UK time.
