Vinicius Jr. notched a new La Liga benchmark in Real Madrid’s draw with Real Sociedad

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. secured for himself a head-turning piece of history late on Sunday evening.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

After seeing Clasico rivals Barcelona surge six points clear at the La Liga summit on Saturday, Los Blancos welcomed Real Sociedad to the Santiago Bernabeu, eyeing a three-point haul of their own.

When all was said and done in Spain’s capital, however, Real - owing to a frustrating 90 minutes which saw both sides come close more than once - were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in a goalless stalemate.

Amid an otherwise disappointing evening for the European champions on Sunday, though, as alluded to above, one individual who continued to shine bright was Vinicius Jr.

Afforded his latest start on the left flank, the Brazilian dynamo terrorised the visitors’ backline throughout proceedings, in taking the direct route towards goal time and time again.

And, in the process, Vinicius etched his name into the recent history books of Spain’s top-flight.

As revealed by statisticians Opta, the fleet-footed winger’s 21 attempted dribbles against La Real marked the most on record in a single La Liga fixture since ‘at least’ the 2005/06 campaign.
