A genuine Goal of the Season contender across all of Europe's top-5 leagues was netted in Italy this evening, courtesy of AC Milan's Theo Hernandez.

The Rossoneri were of course back in action a short time ago.

Ahead of Inter making the trip to Sardinia to face Cagliari later tonight, Milan welcomed Atalanta to the San Siro, in the knowledge that a victory would guide them to within a solitary point of dethroning their city rivals as champions of Serie A.

And, when all was said and done, take another giant leap towards a first Scudetto in over a decade is precisely what Stefano Pioli's hosts managed.

The game's scoring was opened ten minutes into the 2nd-half, when Rafael Leao latched onto Junior Messias' defence-splitting pass to rifle home between the legs of the advancing Juan Musso:

Even the most wishful of Milan supporters, though, could hardly have predicted what was to come next.

After making his way beyond a pair of opposing players, in scenes reminiscent of the great George Weah, the hosts' left-back simply kept going, and going, eventually reaching the Atalanta box to skip past yet another two defenders, and pick out the far corner of Musso's goal with aplomb.

A genuine Goal of the Season contender, to spark utter pandemonium on the red half of the Milanese divide, and place one Diavolo hand on the Scudetto trophy:
