Cristiano Ronaldo led the congratulations for his son after he made a winning debut for Portugal’s Under-15 national team.

Cristiano Ronaldo Junior came off the bench as Portugal claimed a 4-1 win over Japan’s Under-15 team.

He was brought on nine minutes into the second half with Portugal already 3-0 to the good thanks to a hat-trick from Rafael Cabral.

Like his father, 14-year-old Ronaldo Junior also plays his football for Al-Nassr. He is contracted to the Saudi Pro League side’s academy.

And after he took his latest steps towards emulating his father on the international stage, Ronaldo Senior was full of praise for his son.

“Congratulations on your Portugal, debut, son. Very proud of you,” Ronaldo Sr wrote on social media.

The game against Japan marked the first of four Portugal’s Under-15 team will contest in the Vlatko Markovic international tournament, which is being held in Croatia.

They face Greece on Wednesday and then take on England on Friday. Portugal conclude the tournament against an opponent still to be determined on Sunday.
