Unai Emery set to bring in Lucas Perez from the cold
During Arsene Wenger’s time at Arsenal, much of the gossip surrounding the Gunners would come in the French media.
Judging by the early hours of Unai Emery’s time in charge, it makes sense to keep an eye on the Spanish press.
El Desmarque report that Unai Emery’s arrival at Arsenal is great news for a forgotten Arsenal attacker: Spaniard Lucas Perez.
Emery is a “big fan” of Perez
Arsenal have informed Perez, following a loan spell at Deportivo La Coruna in 2017/2018, that he should return to pre-season training with the Gunners on July 2, 2018.
Emery has always been a big fan of Perez and looks set to hold a meeting with the player in early June to discuss his future.
The past season was not a good one for Perez, with Deportivo La Coruna relegated from La Liga. Perez claimed eight goals in 35 La Liga matches.
Unai Emery tried to buy Lucas Perez in 2016
Perez and his representatives are encouraged by Emery’s arrival at Arsenal.
Emery tried to sign Perez for PSG in the summer of 2016 and is expected to be part of his plans, at least initially, from July.
Arsenal do have a lot of attacking options but Perez may have an advantage over some players already at The Emirates as he should be able to adapt quickly to any changes in style.
Perez impressed in his first season in English football in a fleeting manner and was arguably not given enough chances by Arsene Wenger.
