Trio of Real Madrid stars miss out on squad for Getafe

Three high-profile members of the first-team setup at Spanish giants Real Madrid have been omitted from the club’s latest travelling squad.

Los Blancos, of course, are primed to return to action on Saturday.

After being knocked off their perch atop the La Liga table by Clasico rivals Barcelona owing to a disappointing stalemate with Osasuna last weekend, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops will make the trip to Getafe, eyeing a swift return to winning ways.

Such efforts, however, will come sans the services of two of the first names on boss Ancelotti’s team sheet, as well as another important squad member.

The latter comes in the form of Dani Ceballos, who was forced onto the sidelines earlier this week owing to a hamstring injury.

Altogether more noteworthy when it comes to Real’s hopes on Saturday, though, are the impending absences of Thibaut Courtois and Karim Benzema.

Shot-stopper Courtois has watched on from afar in both of Los Merengues’ last two fixtures, amid ongoing complications stemming from a back problem.

There had been hope that the Belgian would return to the fray this weekend, but this, it has been confirmed, will not prove the case.

Benzema, on the other hand, was involved, and saw out the full 90 minutes on Wednesday, as the European champions saw off Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

The Frenchman has since been omitted from Real’s official squad bound for the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, though.

This comes with Benzema, it is understood, being afforded a rest on the back of his recent return from injury.
