As 101 covered on Thursday night, Liverpool looked set to complete the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
The deal was expected to be a British transfer record, surpassing the £105m Arsenal will pay West Ham for Declan Rice.
In his press conference on Friday, Jurgen Klopp confirmed the deal was set to go through: “I got told I can confirm the Moisés Caicedo deal is agreed with the club.
“With the player, we will have to see. Medical today? I can’t tell you, I don’t know. We give it a go and the club have really stretched it to be honest”.
However, just a few hours later, it has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Moises Caicedo has informed Liverpool that he only wants to join Chelsea and has decided to keep his word and only accept Chelsea as personal terms have been agreed with the Blues since the end of May.
It is added that Chelsea are set to bid again in order to get a deal done with Brighton.
