The knock-on effect of Premier League giants Chelsea retaking the lead in the race for Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo has been provided on Friday evening.
The name of midfielder Caicedo has, of course, taken its place front and centre in the English media headlines once more across the day to date.
This comes after yet another twist in the saga of the summer was confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
Just hours on from Liverpool, out of the blue, hijacking Chelsea’s long-running swoop for Caicedo to agree a deal with Brighton, it was revealed that the 21-year-old himself had rejected an Anfield switch.
Instead, Caicedo is understood to have made clear that he only has eyes for Chelsea, therefore intent on waiting it out for the Stamford Bridge brass to up their bid and strike a deal.
What, though, does this mean for Chelsea’s contingency plan?
As confirmed by a whole host of sources over the last 48 hours, the Pensioners also reached an agreement with their counterparts at Leeds United, over the signing of Tyler Adams.
However, in a major blow for the United States international, it has since been revealed that Todd Boehly and co. have decided to pull the plug on their swoop for Adams, to focus full attentions on Caicedo.
This comes despite the all-action Leeds man having already agreed to the terms of a contract, and undergone a medical in west London.
