West Ham readying summer swoop for returning Chelsea loanee

West Ham United are preparing a summer swoop for an in-demand member of the Chelsea loan army, according to reports.

The player in question? Armando Broja.

Hitman Broja is of course in the midst of an impressive stint in England’s southeast, after linking up with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton on a temporary basis last summer.

All told, despite something of a barren spell in front of goal of late, the highly-regarded Albanian has racked up a respectable nine goals across all competitions, six of which came by way of the Premier League.

It is Broja’s all-round exploits, though – the 20-year-old boasts a rare combination of size, athleticism and touch – which are understood to have seen interest in his services begin to mount ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

As per a report from Jack Rosser of The Sun, West Ham have set their sights firmly on the on-loan Chelsea man to reinforce the club’s frontline in the summer.

The Hammers are of course in desperate need of fresh blood up top, having essentially run Michail Antonio into the ground across the season to date.

Any such efforts to land Broja, though, could yet be complicated by Southampton, who too remain keen to lure the striker back to St. Mary’s.

Nevertheless, the board at the London Stadium are expected to move forward with a big-money push for his signature upon the campaign’s conclusion, with David Moyes in particular having been hugely impressed by Broja’s efforts across a trio of meetings with West Ham this term.

Eintracht showdown

Word of West Ham’s plans for the summer of course come ahead of the Irons’ return to action in a little over an hour’s time.

In what many would no doubt argue represents the most important outing in the club’s recent history, Moyes’ troops are set to go head-to-head with Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, eyeing a spot in the finale of the Europa League.

After a 2-1 first-leg defeat in London last week, though, the evening’s visitors will need to turn things around this time out, no doubt inspired by the comeback heroics which ultimately led to fellow Premier League outfit Manchester City being sent packing from Europe just 24 hours ago.
