According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have been following Hincapie for a long time, while other clubs in the Premier League, as well as in Serie A, are also interested in the 21-year-old.
For the time being, though, it seems it’s not more concrete than that
“Many clubs are interested in Piero Hincapie in England, Italy (Napoli and Inter) and other countries. Tottenham have been following him for long time but no official bid has been made in the last hours, despite rumours to the contrary,” Romano explained.
Despite this report, Hincapie would still likely be an excellent addition to Spurs’ backline.
The Ecuador international is a natural centre-back and has impressed there for some time now with Bayer Leverkusen.
However, he can also play at left-back and has done so several times already this season.
So, as Tottenham play five at the back and currently use Ben Davies as the left-sided centre-back in the three, Hincapie would likely fit that role well and provide some much-needed cover/competition for Davies at LCB.
