The latest on Arsenal’s pursuit of Youri Tielemans

A fresh update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has emerged recently.

The future of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has been cast into doubt over the last several weeks.

This comes with the Belgian out of contract in 2023 and seemingly not eager to put pen to paper on a fresh deal.

Reports earlier this year claimed that Arsenal have identified the 25-year-old as one of their top targets as Mikel Arteta plots another big summer in the transfer market, with Tielemans’ lack of a new deal sparking interest from several clubs, including Arsenal.

Arteta was also said to be eyeing a left-footed midfielder who can operate as an eight on the left of a three, which Tielemans can.

Now, a fresh update on Arsenal’s interest has emerged via journalist Dean Jones.

When asked for an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of the 25-year-old, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “If they don’t sign him, it’s not because Tielemans doesn’t want to join, it’s not because the deal can’t be agreed with Leicester, I think Arsenal are very confident if they do come to the table and finally make a bid that they will be able to strike a deal with Leicester, it’s down to Arteta’s desire, and at the moment, he doesn’t want to move.”

No potential transfer fee is mentioned in the report, but given the Belgian now has less than 12 months left on his current deal, Leicester cannot really afford to charge too much, otherwise they risk losing Tielemans for free next summer.
