Revealed: Manchester City’s five-man shortlist of left-back targets

Manchester City have drawn up a list of five targets for the left-back spot.

Manchester City are on the hunt for a new senior left-back.

The Premier League champions are closing in on a deal to sign Sergio Gomez, however, the 21-year-old is expected to head straight back out on loan.

They have already sold Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal and failed to sign Marc Cucurella, who instead joined Chelsea.

João Cancelo is currently having to fill in at left-back but he can do so very capably.

City have subsequently drawn up a five-man shortlist of targets for this area of the pitch, as revealed by the Telegraph.

Renan Lodi

Atlético Madrid are expecting to receive an offer for Renan Lodi.

However, the Spanish club could value him at a similar price to Brighton’s Cucurella asking price, which was £50 million.

The player also has three years remaining on his current contract.

Raphaël Guerreiro

Raphaël Guerreiro is another player of interest to City and his contract situation makes him very attainable.

He has just one year left on his deal after a seven-year spell at Borussia Dortmund.

The 28-year-old is also a Portuguese international and helped them to win Euro 2016.

Borna Sosa

Borna Sosa has also caught the eye in the Bundesliga, just like Guerreiro.

Last season, he managed 8 assists in 28 Bundesliga appearances for Stuttgart.

The Croatian is also a player who City have been tracking.

Kieran Tierney

City could also look at more Premier League experienced players and one of them could be Kieran Tierney.

Having sold Zinchenko to the Gunners, City could look for Arsenal to do them a favour by selling them the Scot.

The 25-year-old was benched by the Ukrainian for Arsenal’s opener against Crystal Palace.

Rayan Aït-Nouri

Wolves’ Rayan Aït-Nouri is another player which they are aware of following his progress in the Midlands.

The Frenchman has established himself as Wolves’ starting left-back.
