Revealed: How much Liverpool must pay for ‘next Iniesta’

Liverpool could be set to sign the next Andreas Iniesta.

Fabrizio Romano has provided a future update on Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga on Monday:

“Interest in Gabri Veiga is there from many top clubs in Premier League and La Liga, the move this summer will only happen for €40m release clause, or at least this is Celta Vigo position,” Romano said.

“To understand what’s next for Gabri Veiga is going to be crucial to follow the situation on agent side, as he will pick new agent soon.”

Liverpool have recently been linked strongly with Veiga by Spanish outlet AS and given the Reds’ midfield issues, they would no doubt love to sign the man dubbed the ‘next Iniesta’.

All of Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner are set to leave Liverpool in the summer when their deals expire, whilst Liverpool’s starting midfielders are already proving they are not up to the task at the moment.

So, signing someone like Gabri for such a small fee could be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp.

Veiga is a product of Celta Vigo’s academy. He is naturally a no.10 but he can also operate as an 8 and has even played a few games on the right-wing.

The youngster has made 44 appearances for Celta Vigo, with 29 of those outings coming in 2022/23. In said outings, he has scored nine goals and provided three assists.
