Veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos is all set for a return to La Liga, according to reports late on Sunday evening.

The former Real Madrid standout’s incoming destination? Sevilla.

The subject of stopper Ramos’ future has of course taken its place front and centre in the European media headlines across much of the summer to date.

This comes after the 37-year-old opted against renewing his expiring terms with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Since made available as a free agent, a whole host of clubs, chiefly in Saudi Arabia and MLS, were in turn tipped as potential landing spots.

Evidently, however, Ramos himself is of the opinion that his time at the top level of the game has not yet come to a close.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano:

‘Sergio Ramos to Sevilla, here we go! The verbal agreement has been reached on short term deal — despite proposals on the table from Al Ittihad and also Turkish clubs’

Ramos’ return to The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium comes a full 18 years since the all-action defender first departed his hometown club, for Madrid.
