PSG interested in Arsenal mega star

PSG are interested in signing one of Arsenal’s best players.

William Saliba first joined Arsenal back in 2019. However, the Frenchman found his game time very limited in north London.

Saliba was not even playing in cup competitions under Arteta and was instead loaned out several times.

In fact, Saliba did not make a first-team appearance until this season for the Gunners.

Now though, Saliba has cemented himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and his rise has been crucial to Arsenal sitting top of the table by eight points.

And with Saliba only 22 years of age, Mikel Arteta and co. are no doubt hoping to have Saliba stay at the club for many years and become a legend.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, though, Saliba’s current contract runs out in 2024, meaning he will have just one year left on his deal come the summer. And after his superb 2022/23 campaign, Saliba will be, and seemingly already is, garnering a lot of attention from some top clubs.

According to French football expert Jonathan Johnson, Ligue 1 powerhouse PSG are monitoring Saliba and are likely to keep doing so. Saliba is also a Paris native, so there is an obvious connection there:

“I’m aware there’s been some talk of PSG having a long-standing interest in William Saliba, and it makes sense that he’s someone they’re likely to keep an eye on, but it’s looking highly likely that his immediate future lies at Arsenal. He’s really come into his own in Mikel Arteta’s side and is starting to establish himself as a French international under Didier Deschamps ahead of Euro 2024,” Johnson said.

“Saliba obviously has Parisian roots, he comes from Bondy, the same place as Kylian Mbappe, so that will appeal to the French champions. However, one complicating factor with Saliba that shouldn’t be underestimated is that loan spell with Marseille that he had – a very succcessful one at that, and I think that will stay fresh in the memories of some PSG fans.”
