Omari Forson: Man United offer contract, Shoretire, Evans, Heaton in talks

Reports have said Forson could turn down United's offer

Manchester United have offered a new deal to attacking prospect Omari Forson and are in talks with veteran defender Jonny Evans, former England goalkeeper Tom Heaton and striker Shola Shoretire.

Academy graduate Brandon Williams is leaving the Premier League club, who have confirmed centre-back Raphael Varane and forward Anthony Martial’s exits.

Forson made his debut with an assist in United’s 4-3 win at Wolves in the Premier League in February and has played six times in the top flight and FA Cup since then.

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano said on Monday that the 19-year-old had attracted interest from “several clubs” and would leave United when his contract expires this month.

Forson produced three goals and three assists in six Premier League 2 matches in 2023/24, as well as two goals and one assist against Galatasaray in a Uefa Youth League match.

He was an unused substitute in United’s 4-3 defeats at Bayern Munich and Copenhagen during their dismal Champions League campaign.

Jonny Evans: United contract offer

Northern Ireland veteran Evans surprisingly rejoined United on a one-year deal in September 2023, having left the club eight years earlier.

Now 36, he became a regular during an injury-hit season for Erik ten Hag’s squad and could be needed again in place of Varane, who joined from Real Madrid in July 2021 for an initial fee of about £34 million and made 93 appearances.

Martial played 317 times for United, winning the Europa League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup twice across nine years.

Heaton began his United academy career in 2002 and was part of the first-team squad between 2005 and 2010, returning 11 years later. The 38-year-old has made three appearances.

Attacking midfielder Shoretire holds the record for the youngest United player to play in a European game, although the 20-year-old did not make a first-team appearance in 2023/24.

Full-back Williams, 23, has made 51 appearances and spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town, featuring 15 times as the Tractor Boys won promotion to the Premier League.
