Nicolo Barella responds to Liverpool transfer interest

The Italian responded to transfer links with Liverpool.

Liverpool have been linked with the Euro 2020 winner for some time now as they attempt to rebuild their midfield following an underwhelming 2022/23 season, and as several stars leave on frees at the expiration of their contract.

Barella has a contract at the San Siro until 2026, but Inter Milan’s financial situation means they are under more pressure to sell.

The 26-year-old joined Inter Milan in 2020 after a loan spell with the Nerazzurri and has gone on to make 187 appearances, scoring 20 and assisting 44 in the process.

However, it does not look as though the Italian will be heading to Anfield this summer.

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the midfielder has been told about Jurgen Klopp’s interest in taking him to Anfield this summer. But he has responded by making no attempt to force an exit from the San Siro.

Liverpool have already secured Alexis Mac Alister’s services for Brighton but remain in the market for a second central midfielder.

One such name is Khephren Thuram – the son of former France international Lilian Thuram and the brother of Borussia Monchengladbach forward, Marcus Thuram. You can read more about that here.
