Newcastle table €16m offer for Real Madrid target Matheus França


Premier League high-flyers Newcastle United have submitted a new offer for a key target, amid ongoing efforts to reinforce with a view to the 2nd-half of the campaign.

The subject of the proposal in question? Matheus Franca.

Those of a Newcastle persuasion, of course, will at this point be well accustomed to the name of Brazilian sensation Franca.

This comes with speculation surrounding the Magpies’ interest in his services having been circulating for several weeks now.

Franca is an 18-year-old attacking midfielder who, despite his tender years, has already established himself as a regular contributor in the senior setup of Brazilian giants Flamengo.

Viewed as a potential star in the making, the powers that be at Newcastle, in turn, have long kicked into gear negotiations with their counterparts at Flamengo, over a potential deal for Franca.

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, the Geordie outfit have taken another step towards precisely that.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the transfer team at St. James’ Park today tabled a new bid for the Brazilian youth international, worth a considerable €16 million.

This comes with both Real Madrid and Olympique Lyonnais also continuing to keep a close eye on Franca’s situation.

It now remains to be seen whether Flamengo deem the terms of Newcastle’s latest proposal as worthy of the sale of their crown jewel.
