Newcastle ready to offer £35m for Bundesliga striker

Newcastle are said to be willing to offer up £35m for Bayer Leverkusen and Czech Republic star, Patrick Schick.

This comes with Newcastle still searching for a quality striking option under Eddie Howe.

Newcastle’s newfound wealth meant they were able to splash a staggering £25m on Burnley’s Chris Wood in January to help fill their striking void.

However, Wood has been pretty dismal for the Magpies so far, scoring just two in 15 Premier League ties.

Elsewhere, Callum Wilson remains injury prone and Joelinton is now a much, much better midfield option than he is a centre-forward.

So, it obvious that Newcastle will be looking to sign another striker this summer as they begin their journey as the world’s richest club.

Newcastle eye Schick

And now, journalist Ekrem Konur is reporting that Newcastle have added Patrick Schick to their transfer list and are ready to offer £35m for the Czech Republic footballer:

It is easy to see why Schick would be so appealing to Newcastle given his current goal-scoring record for Leverkusen.

Schick joined the German side from AS Roma in September of 2020 and has enjoyed a very fruitful spell to date, especially in the current campaign where he has scored 22 and assisted three in 25 league ties.

However, as Leverkusen are on course to secure Champions League football for next season, the midtable Newcastle may have a hard time convincing the forward to join them this summer.
