101 covered reports on Sunday, which claimed that Arsenal are exploring a deal to sign Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

German champions Bayern Munich are also looking at Raya, but for a loan not a permanent move, whilst the player himself is understood to favour a move to long-term admirers, Arsenal.

David Raya is only 27 years of age, which is still fairly young for a goalkeeper.

He also played all 38 of Brentford’s Premier League games last season and kept 12 clean sheets in the process.

So, him being signed as a B goalkeeper did seem somewhat odd as he could easily start a lot of games for a fair few Premier League sides.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Raya will come in and compete alongside Aaron Ramsdale for the no.1 spot at the Emirates:

“Arsenal have always appreciated him and Mikel Arteta is a big fan, but now it’ll be down to the clubs to reach an agreement.

“As for Aaron Ramsdale, my understanding is that the idea would be to create competition between Ramsdale and Raya – it’s not a case of replacing the England ‘keeper.”
