Manchester United secures double deal for Tyler and Jack Fletcher

The pair of England and Scotland U16 internationals already have strong links to Old Trafford after their father, Darren Fletcher, came through the United academy ranks before spending thirteen seasons at the Theatre of Dreams.

Premier League giants Manchester United have confirmed a double swoop much closer to home today after the Red Devils secured a double swoop for English youth midfield pair Tyler and Jack Fletcher.

The pair of England and Scotland U16 internationals already have strong links to Old Trafford after their father, Darren Fletcher, came through the United academy ranks before spending thirteen seasons at the Theatre of Dreams while helping the club bag five Premier League titles, multiple domestic cup wins, and a Champions League winners medal in 2007-08.

United has shelled out £1.25million to rivals Manchester City to secure the pair, with the pair now joining their father, who is currently the club’s technical director.

According to reports in The Mirror, United have shot down claims that the fee paid is a record for a player in their age bracket.

“United have countered suggestions the fee is a record for players of their age and fee the figure is an appropriate amount for the duo. The Red Devils have paid higher fees for players of a similar age in the past and their 16-year-old defender Harrison Parker is going the other way for a similar fee.”

With the pair touted as potential footballing prodigies, their development in the northwest of England will no doubt continue to grab headlines in the coming years if they are to eventually break into the senior squad.
