The player in question is Inter Milan’s Andre Onana.
Reports last month claimed Manchester United had made contact with Inter Milan’s Andre Onana over a move to Old Trafford, but the Serie A side’s asking price is a problem as they try to stay within their summer transfer budget.
The Times reported that the Red Devils have made contact with Onana over a move, with Inter Milan setting the asking price for the Cameroon goalkeeper at around £52m.
Such a fee was understood to be too high for Man United, but it seems the club are still holding out some hope they can get a deal over the line.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on Wednesday morning that Manchester United have presented their verbal proposal for Andre Onana this morning in a deal worth a total of £39m, including add-ons.
It is added that the bid will be made official soon but Inter Milan are still expecting a €60m fee.
As a result, it looks likely that United’s €39m offer will be turned down by the Italian side.
