Manchester United & Arsenal make contract proposals to Barcelona defender

Manchester United and Arsenal have made contract proposals to an FC Barcelona defender, according to reports coming from Spain.

The player in question is Ronaldo Araujo. The 23-year-old is a key figure at Barca right now, but his current deal with the Catalonian outfit expires at the end of next season.

And now, journalist Gerard Romero is reporting that Manchester United have offered him a contract worth around €8m, whilst Arsenal have offered around €6m:

Whilst Manchester United’s contract is higher, should Arsenal beat the Red Devils to the final Champions League spot, perhaps that could persuade Araujo to join them instead?

Araujo’s Barcelona stint

Araujo was signed by Barcelona in August of 2018, leaving Uruguayan outfit Boston River to link up with the club’s B team. And Araujo, from here, went on to feature 44 times for Barca B, scoring six and assisting three in the process.

Since then, he has been promoted to the club’s senior set-up, and has now become a key cog in La Blaugrana’s backline.

With Gerard Pique past his best, and players like Samuel Umtiti suffering with persistent injury issues, Araujo has, in turn, emerged as one of the few bright sparks at the back for Barca of late.
