Liverpool spent the summer transfer window trying to fix their midfield.
Four midfield signings were brought in to replace the likes of Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian and Fabinho.
For the most part, the Reds have improved their midfield, though question marks still remain over whether they have a good enough defensive midfielder to compete at the highest level this season.
Regardless, Liverpool’s focus on their midfield means they neglected other areas of the pitch, including centre-back.
Joel Matip is now past his best and Joe Gomez has been very inconsistent over the last several years.
Now though, according to a report from Anfield Watch, Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio has been identified as a target by the Reds and Liverpool have set aside a budget of around €70 million in order to improve their defence.
And as Inacio has a release clause of €60 million in his contract, Liverpool should have no issues trying to sign him this winter.
Inacio has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea over the past few months.
