Liverpool in talks to sign striker dubbed ‘sensational’ by Jurgen Klopp

An insight into Liverpool’s January transfer plans has been provided.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have not given up hope of winning the race for Borussia Dortmund’s teenage sensation, Youssoufa Moukoko.

The striker is wanted by multiple top clubs, with his contract at the German club expiring in the summer of 2023.

It has also been widely reported recently that Chelsea are the frontrunners to land Moukoko as they look to tie up a deal in January.

But Liverpool are still in the race for a player Jurgen Klopp regards as a ‘sensational talent’.

Talks have been held with the player’s representatives and a new push is expected to be made by the Merseysiders before the window opens.

Moukoko has notched 11 goals and eight assists in 59 games since making his debut as a 16-year-old in 2020.

He has scored six goals in just 766 Bundesliga minutes this term – form which earned him a call-up to the Germany squad for the World Cup in Qatar where he became the youngest player to represent Germany at a World Cup after coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat by Japan in their opening group game, aged 18 years and three days.

No potential fee is mentioned, but given his contract status, he could be signing on a pre-contract agreement in January before joining for free in the summer.
