Leeds ‘working to sign’ Italian international Gnonto

The Peacocks remain on the hunt for reinforcements

Premier League outfit Leeds United have set their sights on the signature of FC Zurich star Wilfried Gnonto, it has been revealed.

Leeds, of course, have enjoyed a busy summer transfer window to date.

On the back of a season which saw them narrowly avoid relegation to the Championship last time out, the powers that be at Elland Road have been hard at work, in a bid to sufficiently reinforce Jesse Marsch’s playing ranks.

To this point, no fewer than seven players have opted to take their talents to west Yorkshire, key to the Whites’ solid start to the campaign.

Outgoings have too been plentiful, though, with star performers Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips having been joined in departing by the likes of Helder Costa, Tyler Roberts and Kiko Casilla.

And yet, as alluded to above, Victor Orta and co. do not yet appear ready to call it a day when it comes to the mini summer overhaul taking place at Elland Road.

As per a report from transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Leeds have begun ‘working to sign’ Wilfried Gnonto from Swiss giants FC Zurich.

Despite being just 18 years of age, diminutive attacker Gnonto has long been a regular feature at the Stadion Letzigrund.

Not only that, but he has too already secured four caps for Italy’s national outfit at senior level.

Discussions surrounding a deal worth a sum in the region of €4/5 million, in turn, are now underway.
