Latest on Sadio Mane’s move to Chelsea

Bayern Munich winger Sadio Mane has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich during the 2022 summer transfer window after a shock exit from Liverpool.

Mane’s time in Germany has not gone as well as he likely hoped, though that may have something to do with Bayern not having a quality no.9 and often relying on Mane – a left-winger – to fill that role.

The Senegal international has scored 12 and assisted five in 35 outings for his current club.

But just after one year with Bayern, it is being reported that Mane could return to the Premier League with Chelsea as incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino wants him.

Now though, Ben Jacobs has provided an update on Mane which suggests that may not be the case.

As per Ben Jacobs: “What is clear for now is that Chelsea are not currently considering Mane. There have been no talks despite rumours Mauricio Pochettino has earmarked the player as a transfer target should he land the job at Stamford Bridge.

“Pochettino, at the time of writing, hasn’t signed as the new Chelsea boss, although is widely expected to do so. But Chelsea’s recruitment is done in numbers, and they want a traditional striker – more like Lewandowski than Mane in style, but younger than both. Chelsea want to buy younger players so that transfer fees are investments not expenses.”
