101GreatGoals covered reports earlier this month, which claimed that Granit Xhaka was heading for an Arsenal exit.
Fabrizio Romano stated that Xhaka is set to leave Arsenal at the end of the season and there are no negotiations over a new deal, with the plan to part ways in June.
Romano added that Bayer Leverkusen are in advanced talks to sign him for a €15m fee and that personal terms are almost agreed over a four-year deal.
Now though, recent comments from Xhaka this past weekend seem to hint a summer exit is not as guaranteed as it previously seemed.
Arsenal officially lost the Premier League title to Manchester City on Saturday and when speaking after that, the Swiss international said: “We’ve played a great season – but we have to keep going. We must take another forward step because it’s going to be much more difficult next season.
“We know that. The board and the coach will decide what’s going to happen but we need to be ready for anything.”
