Chelsea’s £1b+ spending in just over a year means many people expect them to be challenging and even winning the Premier League.
However, four games into the 2023/24 season and their hopes of a title push have already fallen away.
They drew 1-1 with Liverpool, lost to West Ham, beat a poor Luton Town side and most recently, lost to Nottingham Forest.
Chelsea have plenty of talented players on their books but William Gallas believes they still need a striker who can score 20-25 goals a season.
Gallas said: “Chelsea need a striker, one striker and maybe one experienced midfielder. They need a striker although it looks like Jackson is really good, he is still young and has to learn.
“I don’t know if he is going to score enough goals for Chelsea to help them win the Premier League one day. To win the Premier League, your striker needs to reach around 20-25 goals and I don’t think Jackson will do it, even though I think he is a really good young player who you can see his qualities.”
He missed a sitter vs Nottingham Forest, which would have salvaged the west Londoners a point.
