Erik ten Hag sends message to Manchester United board ahead of transfer deadline day

Manchester United have had a quiet January transfer window.

Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst are the only names through the door so far.

Weghorst joined Manchester United after spending time on loan from Burnley at Besiktas.

The Dutchman replaced Cristiano Ronaldo, who saw his contract with the Red Devils terminated last year.

After signing Weghorst, Manchester United fans may have been hoping for one or two more players through the door this month.

However, speaking after the recent Manchester derby, Fabrizio Romano claimed that United are done in the market, unless Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves and they need to sign a new right-back as cover for Diogo Dalot.

Now, as we enter the final days of the window, Erik ten Hag has stated that Manchester United need to be ready to strike if something becomes available this month:

“I think this club always has to have the approach that every day you have to get better so if there are opportunities to get better then you have to strike. That’s my approach so I’m looking around, to research.

“But I have an idea with which profiles we could strengthen the squad.”
