Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United transfer plan after Wout Weghorst confirmation

Erik ten Hag has been discussing Manchester United’s winter transfer business.

After months of upheaval, Cristiano Ronaldo was released from his Manchester United contract in November.

This left Manchester United with just one natural striker for the rest of the campaign, making a January move likely.

Of course, both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford can play through the middle, but neither play is that clinical in front of goal.

So, Manchester United fans were doubt hoping to see a new no.9 through the door this winter.

And as confirmed by Erik ten Hag on Friday, Wout Weghorst is set to join the Red Devils this month.

When speaking about Weghorst, the former Ajax boss also hinted at more winter arrivals at Old Trafford:

“With Wout, we have an extra player. In the balance of the squad, it’s what we need,” Ten Hag explained.

“I am happy with that, so if there are more opportunities we will be ready for that and looking for that, but it has to be once again the right player. “With the numbers here, I think with the signing of Wout and development of some players here - Alejandro Garnacho is the best example but also Kobbie Mainoo and Facundo Pellestri.

“I think also we have some good young players that can also fight for their minutes. They have to deserve it in training and when they are ready to compete, then we are not hesitating to play them.”
