Manchester United currently only have Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo as natural no.9s.

Ronaldo was desperate to leave United during the 2022 summer transfer window but was forced to stay put as no Champions League clubs wanted him.

Since staying at United, Ronaldo has struggled to win back a starting berth and has only scored one goal – a penalty in the Europa League last week.

As for Martial, he had a brilliant pre-season but has been inundated with injury issues so far this campaign.

This has left Marcus Rashford to fill the void up top. The Englishman has done a decent job so far, but he too has had his fair share of injury woes, and is currently a doubt for the Manchester derby after the international break.

So, it is easy to see why Erik ten Hag is looking to add some more depth up front.

Ramos is valued at around £25m by Benfica, which United would not go above — despite the player reportedly having a £100m release clause.

But as Ten Hag is not expected to have much to spend in January, signing Ramos for £25m could be a decent bit of business.

The striker has scored eight and assisted five in 12 games for Benfica so far this season.
