Chelsea had an active deadline day that included Marcos Alonso making the switch to FC Barcelona.
On the incoming front, meanwhile, Chelsea fans had to wait until past the deadline to actually see some new faces.
First up, Denis Zakaria has joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign, with an option of a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
On switching to Stamford Bridge, Zakaria said: “I want to say hi to all the Chelsea fans. I’m very happy and proud to be a Blue and I cannot wait to see you soon at Stamford Bridge.”
Zakaria will add some much-needed defensive cover to Chelsea’s midfield, which has looked very weak since N’Golo Kante was injured once again.
The option to buy clause is believed to stand at £30m.
On becoming a Chelsea player, Aubameyang said: “I’m really happy. It’s an honour to be part of this team and I can’t wait to start. I have some unfinished business with the Premier League so it’s good to be back and really exciting.”
Chelsea also signed Wesley Fofana Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina and Cesare Casadei this summer.
And now, it has been revealed that Chelsea spent the most money of any club in Premier League history during the 2022 summer transfer window, with a total spend of £278.4m:
