Chelsea have been linked with a move for Fofana for a while now.
The Blues have already signed one centre-back this summer in the form of Kalidou Koulibaly.
The former Napoli man has settled in quickly to the Premier League, helping the Blues keep a clean sheet vs Everton and, most recently, scoring vs Tottenham on Sunday.
However, after Chelsea lost both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger for free over the summer, it makes sense for Chelsea, who play three at the back, to want another central defender through the door.
Jules Kounde did look set to be that man, but the Frenchman has now signed for FC Barcelona.
This led to Fofana becoming their no.1 priority, with the defender himself seemingly keen on a move. Fofana removed ‘Leicester City player’ from his bio recently.

Romano adds that Chelsea are preparing a new bid as they want Fofana as a priority target.
Wesley Fofana has agreed personal terms with Chelsea, so the contract would be ready in case the two clubs find an agreement. 🚨🔵 #CFC

Leicester, though, are demanding a very high fee for the stopper, believed to be around the £80-85m mark.
Should Chelsea land Fofana before the window shuts, it will take their summer spending well over £200m.
