Premier League outfit Bournemouth have, on Thursday, confirmed a headline addition to the club’s midfield ranks.
The latest player to have taken his talents to the Vitality Stadium with a view to the new season? Alex Scott.
For those not familiar with his name, that of Scott has taken its place front and centre in the English media headlines across the summer to date.
This comes after the highly-regarded 19-year-old, fresh off a fine season in The Championship with Bristol City, was added to the transfer wishlists of a number of top-flight clubs.
Wolverhampton Wanderers, for one, are understood to have seen no fewer than three offers rebuffed for Scott’s signature.
And such shortcomings on the part of the board at Molineux, in turn, opened the door for Premier League rivals Bournemouth to step through.
As confirmed in a statement across the Cherries’ official website and social media platforms:
‘We are thrilled to confirm the signing of highly rated midfielder Alex Scott.
‘The 19-year-old joins on a permanent deal from Bristol City, signing a long-term deal at Vitality Stadium.’
Scott, it is understood, has set Bournemouth back a sum in the region of £25 million, marking a club-record sale for Bristol City.
