Manchester United’s no.1 right-back this season is Diogo Dalot.
The Portuguese has impressed under Erik ten Hag and can currently stake a claim for the best right-back in the Premier League.
His back-up, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, is still at Old Trafford, but it looks as though he has fallen out of favour and is set to leave the club.
This means Manchester United need to sign a new right-back, and one of the names up for discussion has been Denzel Dumfries.
Dumfries is currently in Qatar for the World Cup and shone in his most recent display, scoring one and providing two assists from right-wing-back as the Netherlands saw off the USA by three goals to one.
So signing Dumfries to compete with Dalot would be a good move on United’s part.
However, according to journalist Ciro Venerato (via Sport Witness), Manchester United have offered €30m plus Dalot in exchange for Inter Milan right-back Dumfries, but this offer is likely to be rejected.
Such a rumour makes little sense given that Dalot has been so impressive this season and if that deal were to go through, Manchester United would still be left with one decent right-back and Wan-Bissaka left on the sidelines.
Wan-Bissaka plus cash seems the more reasonable move on Manchester United’s part, but it is hard to see Inter wanting the former Crystal Palace man.
