Arsenal to ‘go big’ for 16-goal striker in summer transfer window

Arsenal are looking to improve their forward line in the next transfer window.

The player said to be of interest is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.

Amid Inter Milan’s financial issues, Football Insider reported previously that Martinez is viewed as the most saleable asset at the club and a fee of between £70-80m could be enough to secure his signature.

Martinez had a poor World Cup despite going on to lift the trophy with Argentine but his club form has been solid.

The 25-year-old has scored 13 and assisted four in 24 Serie A ties for Inter Milan this season, with another three goals bagged in cup competitions.

As for Arsenal, their two striking options at present are Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, neither of whom are truly prolific in front of goal.

And now, journalist Paul Brown has revealed that Martinez would like to join a Champions League club if he is on the move at the end of the season and it wouldn’t be surprising if Arsenal made a big money move for him:

“It’s looking pretty good for Arsenal in that regard and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they went quite big for him this summer.”
