Ronald Araujo has dropped a major hint over his future after FC Barcelona’s win over Sevilla.
The 23-year-old is a key figure at Barca right now, but his current deal with the Catalonian outfit expires at the end of next season.
Journalist Gerard Romero reported last month that Manchester United have offered Araujo a contract worth around €8m, whilst Arsenal have offered around €6m:
Since then, however, it has been reported that Xavi Hernandez views the South American as crucial and has asked Barcelona to priorities his renewal:
Now, speaking late on Sunday evening, Araujo confirmed that he is very happy in Catalonia and that they are working on his contract renewal:
”I am very happy to be here. I am happy with the support of the people. We are working on the renewal. This week we have a meeting,” the defender stated.
Barcelona down Sevilla
As mentioned above, Araujo’s comments came after Barcelona saw off Sevilla on Sunday.
Xavi’s side broke the deadlock after 72 minutes via Pedri and were able to hold out for a 1-0 win.
Said win means Barca remain 12 points behind 1st-place Real Madrid with one game in hand and nine outings left to play.
