Arsenal lead Newcastle in race for ‘betrayed’ striker

Arsenal are looking to improve their frontline this summer.

Arsenal had a superb 2022/23 season, which saw them achieve 2nd place in the Premier League.

A somewhat disappointing end given how well they did in the first half of the campaign, but in the context of the previous 4-5 years, 2nd place is a huge achievement.

But if Arsenal are to challenge for the Premier League title and win some silverware again, they will likely need to improve up top.

Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka all scored 15 goals a piece this past season, which is impressive.

However, their two strikers were not that great. Gabriel Jesus netted 11 whilst Eddie Nketiah scored 9. And realistically, if Arsenal want to climb to the top of the mountain, they need a more clinical no.9.

Now, a report from Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claims Arsenal and Newcastle are the two clubs interested in Dusan Vlahovic

The report adds that Vlahovic feels ‘betrayed’ by Juventus this season as a result of their poor performances and that the Gunners are ‘above all’ in the race for his signature. A fee of €80m is also being touted.
