Arsenal join four other Premier League clubs in race to sign highly-rated attacker

Arsenal have been linked with a new name heading into the final days of the transfer window.

According to Foot Mercato, the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal have been following Montpellier striker Elye Wahi closely this season, whilst Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old as well.

The report from Foot Mercato claims that a transfer is unlikely this month unless there is an incredible late offer.

Arsenal have already signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton this month and they might not want to splash out on an attacker again. A summer move would be likely.

The 20-year-old joined Montpellier’s youth side in 2018 before making his senior debut in 2021.

He has since made 76 appearances for their senior side, scoring 20 goals along the way.

2022/23 has been his most impressive season to date, though. Wahi has scored seven and assisted one in 18 Ligue 1 games so far.

The striker remains under contract until 2025, meaning he likely won’t come cheap if Arsenal try to pursue him in January or the summer.
