Arsenal are targeting a midfield partnership of Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia, according to the Independent.
The Gunners are lining up a new bid for Rice having seen their initial one rejected.
The deal is expected to close for around £90 million and West Ham are keen to have the payments in just two instalments.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are seen as the most likely destination for Romeo Lavia.
Nothing is advanced yet but Arteta’s side are working on a deal for the 19-year-old.
Arteta is keen to have a stronger midfield having been overwhelmed in the middle of the park at times last season.
